FULL DAY TOUR IN CHIANTI
You will be taken through the hills where you will find overlooking Florence is a 15th century villa and vineyard. Separated from the city by narrow winding roads that will take you into the Chianti/Florentine countryside only 15 minutes from the town center.
During our Florence wine tour I will explain to you the unique blends employed by the villa to create their wines.
Hear how their delicious white and red wines are created to form a tantalizing blend of
Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes, as you wander the production lines learning the process. We will visit the olive groves and vineyards and also the underground wine cellar and after you will finally get to taste the final product for yourself!
You’ll enjoy a full tasting of four wines; one blended white with beautiful layers , one hundred percent Sangiovese with the perfect balance of tannins and acid and of course one of Tuscany‘s
most famous and the wine makers creative blend, the Superstuscan. You will learn the fermentation and vinification methods used to create these fine wines.
Soak up the tranquility as you dine on such local specialties as crostini, prosciutto ham, parmigiano cheese and pecorino cheese form Pienza. This is a full Tuscan spread so these appetizers will be followed by homemade pasta for primi(first course). Then a Tuscan must after dinner we will have our desert wine/holy wine vin santo with Cantucci.
You can visit a 12th century castle with vineyards dating back to 1170 in official records.
The castle is located on a hilltop in the Chianti Classico area,
the first grape growing and wine Producing are in the world to be determined by an official proclamation made by the grand Duke
Cosimo 111 de’ Medici in 1716. We will take a tour of the still working cellars, stroll the late renaissance gardens of the villa, you will discover the great history of the famous family who owned the estate and have a chance to see the wild boar bred in the surrounding woods.
This tour as well will be completed with a tasting of the classic wines, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and vin santo ( holy wine) together with the traditional biscotti.
This will give you a chance to compare locally produced wines and olive oil and begin to understand the difference in these high quality products, much of it depending on the local terroir.
You will also have an opportunity to visit one of the surrounding medieval towns such as Siena or San Gimignano.
Then we will head home and once again taking our final opportunity to take in the beauty of the stunning Chianti hillside while returning to your hotel.
I hope this seems like your dream day:)
